Do you really know who you’re diving with? Choosing a Dive Centre In Cyprus

Diving is an incredible experience, especially scuba diving in Cyprus, but have you ever stopped to think about who you’re putting your trust in underwater? You might book through a well-known dive centre with a great reputation, but do you actually know the experience level of the person guiding you or what kit they have? Choosing the right instructor and dive centre can make all the difference to your safety, enjoyment, and overall experience.

Here are our five key factors to consider before booking your next dive trip.

Dive Instructor Experience and Qualifications

Now, we’re not here to blow our own trumpet… but that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

When you book a scuba dive, do you really know who your guide is? Maybe you’ve chosen a well-established dive centre that boasts about being the best for X, Y, or Z. Sounds great, right? But what if your guide only qualified as a Dive Master last month in Thailand and has been working at the centre for just three weeks? Trust us—this happens far more often than you’d think.

We’re not here to throw shade at other centres, but at Pineapple Dive Club, your safety and experience are our top priorities. When you dive with us in Cyprus, you’re guaranteed to be guided by Alex, a Master Scuba Diver Trainer with over 150 diving certifications and an Elite Instructor award. With 1,500+ dives on the Zenobia and an in-depth knowledge of Cyprus’ best shore dives, he knows all the hidden gems and has the expertise to guide and teach with confidence.

Costs of Scuba Diving in Cyprus

Cost isn’t the only factor when booking a dive, but hidden charges can quickly turn a “great deal” into an expensive surprise. You might see a cheap dive in Cyprus advertised at €80 and think it’s a bargain, until you arrive and discover extra fees for equipment, nitrox, fuel surcharges and VAT. Suddenly that €80 dive is closer to €160, and it doesn’t feel like value anymore.

At Pineapple Dive Club, our pricing is fully transparent. The price you see is the price you pay. No surprise add-ons for tanks, air, nitrox or fuel. Just clear, honest pricing so you can focus on enjoying your dive, not worrying about the bill.

Scuba Diving Equipment

Ever turned up for a dive, taken one look at the gear, and thought, this is actually pretty sht*? Yeah, us too. That’s why all of our equipment is brand new for 2024/25. We’re proud to partner with OMS and Aqualung, ensuring top-quality gear for every dive. Rather than traditional jacket BCDs, we use the OMS Comfort Harness III Signature System Performance Mono Wing, offering better trim, improved water positioning, and superior comfort. Our Aqualung Helix regulators are built for durability and high performance, so you can breathe easy knowing you’re in safe hands.

Scuba Diving Group Size

Big dive groups can be fun, until you’re delayed by two hours due to late arrivals, logistics, and general disorganisation. If you’re feeling a little nervous after a long break from diving, it can be tough to get the attention you need when your guide is juggling 12 excited divers all trying to outdo each other with their dive stories. Perhaps you’re looking for something more specialised—maybe you want to hone your wreck diving skills with a focused penetration dive but still need to be back in Ayia Napa by 3 PM to meet the family. No problem!

With Pineapple Dive Club, your experience is our priority when diving in Cyprus. We keep groups to a maximum of four divers, allowing for a more personalised, tailored dive that suits your needs.

Support & Local Connections

Through trusted partnerships with some of the best centres and providers across the island, we’re able to offer everything a large operation can, tanks, gas refills, boats, full equipment hire and even gear if you’re looking to buy. You get all the resources and support you need.

Final Thoughts

There are plenty of factors to consider when choosing who to dive with, and every diver has different priorities. However, these five key aspects, experience, cost transparency, quality equipment, group size, and local support, should be at the top of your list, no matter where you choose to dive.

At Pineapple Dive Club, we believe in offering safe, high-quality, and memorable dives. If you’re looking for a personalised, professional diving experience in Cyprus, we’ve got you!
