Wreck and shore dive sites, Cyprus

The Zenobia

Advanced + | 16 - 42m | Larnaca

The Zenobia Wreck is ranked among the top wreck dives in the world. She sank in June 1980 after a ballast system software error and now rests on her port side between 16 and 42 metres, stretching an impressive 172 metres long. Still loaded with over 100 lorries and vehicles, she’s an underwater museum of artefacts all now teeming with marine life.

For us at Pineapple, the Zenobia isn’t just a dive site, she’s home turf. Alex, our owner, is a proud Zenobia specialist with over 1,500 dives on her, guiding everything from Advanced Open Water training to deeper technical routes where divers can really sharpen their skills.

Green Bay

Beginner | 0 - 12m | Protaras

Green Bay, often called Turtle Bay, is one of the most iconic shore dives in Protaras, perfect for beginners and seasoned divers alike. With easy beach entry and calm, crystal-clear water and marine encounters up to around 10–12 m.

Underwater you’ll find terrain of rock, sand and sea grass, with the famous Fish Rock, an array of underwater statues great for photo ops.

It’s also a favourite for training and first time diving thanks to its gentle depths and great visibility. A great location to spot turtles too.

Musan

Beginner | 0 - 9m | Ayia Napa

The MUSAN Underwater Museum in Ayia Napa was created by artist Jason deCaires Taylor, this underwater forest of sculptures sits between 8 and 18 metres, blending art and nature. Over time, the installations have become living reefs, attracting schools of fish, groupers and the occasional curious turtle.

With easy access MUSAN is ideal for beginners and certified divers alike. It’s shallow enough to enjoy long, relaxed dives, yet visually powerful enough to impress.

Tunnels & Caves

Open Water + | 6 - 15m | Cape Greco

The Tunnels & Caves dive site at Cape Greco is famous for its natural swim-throughs, arches and rock formations. Depths range from shallow 8–10 metres down to around 25 metres, making it suitable for confident beginners through to more experienced divers.

Sunlight streams through cracks in the rock making it perfect for photography. Inside the caves you’ll find plenty of hidden sea-life. Relaxed entry, loads to explore, and something new to spot every time you go back.

Sheep dip

Beginner | 0 - 22m | Xylofagou

Sheep Dip in Xylofagou is a shallow shore dive with varied rocky topography, patches of sea grass and a few unexpected surprises.

What makes this site memorable is the quirky underwater treasure scattered across the seabed, including a toastie maker, griddle and even a kettle. It’s a fun, relaxed dive with plenty of nooks and rocky features to explore, perfect for easy diving, photography and something a little bit different.

Liberty & Nemesis

Advanced + | 18 - 30m | Protaras

The Liberty Wreck, a former Russian vessel deliberately sunk in 2009, sits alongside the Nemesis III, added in 2014 just 90 metres away.

Both wrecks lie at 24–27 metres and are perfect for advanced certified divers, with penetration opportunities for those qualified to dive to 30 metres. We head out by boat and can explore both sites in one trip. Expect marine life, from nudibranchs, lionrfish, schools of jacks and the occasional curious turtle.

WhiteChapel

Advanced + | 10 - 30m | Cape Greco

The Chapel dive site at Cape Greco overlooks the stunning Bay of Konnos, with a small white chapel perched above the cliffs. Originally built to watch over the local fishing fleet, it now marks one of the most scenic shore dives in Cyprus.

Entry is via a simple walk down to the cave beneath the chapel, followed by a giant stride or roll into the water. You can explore dramatic rock formations, sea grass and hidden swim-throughs, with routes ranging from shallow 10–15 metres to deeper sections dropping to 25–30 metres.

Blue Hole

Beginner | 0 - 15m | Protaras

Blue Hole at Green Bay sits just east of the main bay and accessed via a few easy rock steps into the water.

The Blue Hole itself sits around 11–18 metres, you enter a crevice that opens into a bright underwater chamber, with rays of light piercing through the entrance and exits.

It’s an easy, scenic dive with beautiful rock formations, swim-throughs and great light effects, making it a firm favourite when diving Green Bay in Protaras.

Elpida

Advanced + | 10 - 32m | Oroklini

The MV Elpida, deliberately sunk in 2019 within Larnaca’s Marine Protected Area. Originally built in Germany in 1965 and later used as a cargo vessel in Greece, she was brought to Cyprus to begin a new life underwater.

Now thriving with marine life, from amberjack and grouper, the main deck sits at 20 metres and masts from 10 metres, Elpida is ideal for two dives in one day. Spacious cargo areas, accessible decks, and optional penetration routes make it a brilliant introduction to wreck diving.
