Choosing a Dive Centre in Cyprus? Read the Bad Reviews. Then Come Dive With Us.

Updated: Jun 1

Why doing your research matters, and what happened when two first-time divers did just that. Spoiler alter, Pineapple Dive Club made it to YouTube! 🎥 (video below)

Let’s be real, everyone checks reviews these days, well they should be. But somehow, when it comes to booking a dive experience with a dive centre in Cyprus, people forget their detective hat and just go with the first one that might shout I'm a PADI dive centre the loudest.

We've spoken about reviews before on previous blog. But, here’s your friendly PSA: READ. THE. BAD. REVIEWS.

Because yes, a dive centre might have 4.5 stars, but scroll past those glowing ones and you’ll start seeing patterns. Complaints like:

  • "Impersonal service"

  • "Money grabbing"

  • "Negative environment"

  • "The instructor was inexperienced"

We’ve seen them. And trust us, those reviews? Not one-offs. They’re daily reality for some dive factories around Cyprus.

But not here. Not with us at Pineapple Dive Club.

Enter: The Northern Four on Tour

A couple of weeks ago, we had the absolute joy of diving with two members of The Northern Four on Tour. First-time divers. Nervous as hell. Definitely unsure of what to expect on their discover scuba diving experience.

They did what everyone should do, they read the reviews.

They picked Pineapple Dive Club because they didn’t want to be herded onto a boat like cattle or left bobbing around while the instructor cracked jokes with the advanced group. They wanted a relaxed, safe, and genuinely fun intro to diving.

And guess what?

They got it.

We started slow, with a chilled dive at Green Bay (aka Turtle Bay). They found their confidence, and then headed to MUSAN, Cyprus’s underwater museum where they had the best time.

At the end of the day, we sat and drank a few beers on the back of the truck at the beach and watched on as other first time divers were herded into the water as their instructor asked us about the dive site itself, (true story!) They loved it so much they started looking at moving to Cyprus. Yes, we've helped them with contacts for that too.

To top it off they filmed the whole thing and made an amazing YouTube video about their experience. 🎥 You can watch it here. 👇

The Bottom Line:

Before you book a dive, do yourself a favour:

  • Read all the reviews - especially the bad ones. They make an interesting read.

  • Look for mentions of atmosphere, communication and consistencies in their comments.

  • If something feels off… it probably is.

Then come and dive with us.

We’re not a dive centre. We’re a dive club, part of the wider diving community here in Cyprus. We do small groups, 1:1 tuition, and give a damn about your experience. That’s the difference.
